It's Vintage, Baby! Creative Outdoor Signs in Historic Franklin TN

When the proprietors of "It's Vintage, Baby" looked for inspiration to create their own storefront business signs, they found it at Disneyworld!
Many photographs and conversations later, the creative minds at Birdsong Creative put together a design concept for storefront signage that captured the essence of vintage signs together with a unique, multi-dimensional approach to the overall construction. We had the privilege of weighing in on the final design details for the purposes of fabrication and installation.
The result? Great looking, custom outdoor signs that complied with the requirements of the historic downtown district of Franklin, TN (not necessarily an easy thing to accomplish!).
The signs are an interesting combination of digitally printed graphics, metallic gold and white cut vinyl, dimensional letters (laser cut acrylic), and routed PVC. The sign panels are held in place with high bond double sided tape and a few stainless steel fasteners (no rust!) that were conveniently hidden under a few of the dimensional letters.
The front door was decorated with a custom sign over the header, and etched glass cut vinyl created elegant lettering and the logo on the door glass.
Given that these were intended to be "vintage" signs, we worked to avoid the look of "new" by selecting a lustre finish for the digital print and satin finish on the painted acrylic letters.
The disks at the top of the signs were made from routed PVC painted in a two-tone satin finish. Hinge hardware allowed us to fasten the disks to the trim and to create a slight downward turn. The digital prints were mounted to aluminum disks and then fastened to the inside of the PVC disks with high bond tape. This conveniently allowed us to cover the heads of the bolts holding the disks onto the hinges.
